Obama Admin. Doing Damage Control After NBC Reveals Millions Will Lose Health Plan

Obama didn’t understand how many Americans have health care policies that are total crap, that’s all. Huge deductibles to get a low co-pay, with inadequate coverage. That’s the fault of the insurers. “If you like it” only lasts until you actually acquire a serious disease or have a catastrophic injury, at which point you learn how easy it is to go bankrupt because of medical costs.
I work at an Urgent Care. We deal with it every day, people not realizing until after that car accident that their low-cost policy, or Medicare without supplemental insurance, won’t cover them. We refuse Medicaid, because it doesn’t even meet the cost of supplies. We insist on collecting half the deductible up front to treat people (we have to), or offer the option to refer them to the hospital, where they can’t be turned down. The ACA at least sets a realistic minimum standard for care coverage, disallowing insurers from continuing the scam.
